December 11, 2025 | Chengdu—A delegation led by Mr. Almir Lima Nascimento, Consul General of the Federative Republic of Brazil in Chengdu, visited Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) on Thursday morning to discuss deepening educational cooperation between China and Brazil.
The delegation was first received by SWJTU Vice President ZHOU Zhongrong at the Xipu Campus. Following their meeting, the delegates toured the State Key Laboratory of Traction Power at the Jiuli Campus before arriving at the School of Economics and Management (SEM) for a specialized meeting on business education collaboration.
The meeting was attended by Mr. XU Junhua, Deputy Director of SWJTU’s Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, along with the leadership team of SEM, including Secretary of the CPC SEM Committee, Ms. JIANG Jia, Dean Prof. HAN Ke, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SEM Committee & Secretary of Discipline Inspection Committee Ms. YU Xiaoying, Deputy Division Organizer Mr. YAN Libin, and Associate Dean Prof. LI Liang.
The discussion was moderated by Prof. HAN, who began by extending a warm welcome to the Consul General and his delegation. He provided a comprehensive overview of SEM’s academic disciplines, research achievements, and talent cultivation outcomes, emphasizing its commitment to expanding its global network. HAN highlighted the SEM’s strategic focus on strengthening exchanges with Belt and Road and BRICS countries, noting the vast potential for cooperation between China and Brazil. He expressed his hope that the meeting would serve as a catalyst for establishing substantive partnerships with top Brazilian universities in the field of business education.
Consul General Nascimento expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed Brazil’s strong interest in China’s distinctive management models. He affirmed that promoting international academic cooperation is a key priority for the consulate, stating that high-quality management capabilities are critical for translating development concepts into tangible results. The Consul General noted that several business schools of Brazilian universities have already expressed a desire to partner with SWJTU and that he hoped this visit would facilitate precise matchmaking between the institutions.
Mr. XU from the university’s international office thanked the Consul General for his proactive efforts in connecting SEM with potential Brazilian partners. He assured the delegation that the university would provide full coordination and support to ensure the smooth implementation of future collaborations.
In her concluding remarks, Ms. JIANG noted that the meeting had built a solid bridge for communication at a time of shared global opportunities and challenges. She reiterated the school's deep commitment to its core mission of talent cultivation and expressed her anticipation for advancing Sino-Brazilian educational exchange with the coordinated support of all parties.
The successful meeting has not only deepened the mutual understanding and trust between SEM and the Consulate General of Brazil in Chengdu but has also laid a firm foundation for SEM to explore the South American education market and build a more diversified international cooperation network, injecting new momentum into Sino-Brazilian higher education exchange.
